One of the main features of the entire Xbox Dashboard and one of the few features which has continued throught all of the UI versions is the Xbox Guide. The idea was to incorporate all my working as renders into flash to make a physical working interface where the user after viewing the animation would be able to simply hover over each orb seeing it light up giving the concept of how it could be actually navigated. So working from the initial concept drwaing one thing I wanted to achieve was kind of ‘ripple’ effect when the user turned on their console for the start up sequence. Another idea I built upon which originated from the questionaire was regarding these new Themes and how the Avatar can interact and react with them and the environment. I introduced this small teaser feature for the casual user; by pressing all 4 buttons on the back of the XBox controller (RT, LT, RB and LB) [ READ MORE ]
One thing which has become a big issue with the N.X.E Dashboard and has been expressed in the questionnaire is how Themes have now been ‘butchered’ by the layout of the new design.
