After material testing and lighting testing a started to model several buildings.
To start with a tested simple building modifiers as well as experimented with clay and wire materials so I could show my works in progress.

I then modelled a house and tried an ambient occlusion render

I continued to model buildings..

.. and added the clay and wire materials I had learned as well as ambient occlusion:

I am currently setting up the materials and lighting for this project.

I am also starting to model another building

My goal is to enter the CG Arch Viz industry, creating work which aids architects get designs and plans through the various stages of a building planning process.
Using Studio Max I have been doing a vast amount of modelling, material and lighting test renders.
I started out with the default Scanline renderer

I have progressed from working with the default Scanline renderer and onto Mental Ray and again did everal test renders of materials and lighting.

Since then I have purchased a VRay licence and working with that as my primary render.

I have continued working with tutorials and books to learn what I have and can’t wait to see what I will produce with the continuing months of learning.
After my 2 posts regarding HDR: Incorporating HDR and Incorporating HDR 2 I decided to go ahead and make some (or at least attempt to make some) HDR images of my own.
Using a tripod mounted Cannon D5 MKII, I started making some snaps of the design studio I work in.
Having used digital camera rarely it took me a while to get used to the setting to be able to change the ISO and aperture.
To create an HDR image first I needed to take a series of photos with different apertures so then I can composite them together.

One of the new features with in Photoshop CS5 is the mini Bridge which allows you to easily navigate to files on your computer. With the 3 images selected you can composite them to make an HDR image using the HDR Pro feature.

Once it has finished compositing you end up with a basic HDR image, the true power within HDR images though lies with the extra ordinary amount of possibilities with the techniques.
